Britten Sinfonia Academy (BSA) is an exciting and dynamic chamber orchestral training opportunity for talented secondary school aged musicians from the east of England. Mirroring the daring programming and musical excellence of our parent orchestra, BSA nurtures and challenges our members developing the breadth and depth of their musical and leadership skills.

Across each season, BSA embarks on a series of intensive, term-time, weekend courses exploring ensemble skills, leadership, playing without a conductor and chamber music repertoire. Courses encompass repertoire spanning several centuries from Bach to brand new and the chance to perform in some of the UK's most exciting venues (including London's Barbican Centre, Saffron Hall, West Road in Cambridge and St Andrews Hall in Norwich). Throughout the year members are not only coached by and play alongside Britten Sinfonia's exceptional professional players but also have the opportunity to work with some of the world's great artists.

"As a result of participating in Britten Sinfonia Academy this year I have developed the ability to think musically for myself and voice opinions more in rehearsals." - Megan, flute 2014

"I feel so lucky to be able to play alongside professionals and individuals of such high standard, who all share the same love for music" - Katie, violin 2015

Academy members are also offered exclusive opportunities to see Britten Sinfonia in rehearsals and discounted tickets to Britten Sinfonia concerts throughout the year.
