Britten Sinfonietta Op.1
Moving into Britten’s centenary season, Britten Sinfonia’s award-winning lunchtime concerts explore Britten’s chamber music in context with his influences and contemporaries. Beginning with his first Opuses, written while Britten was still a student, these two virtuosic works heralded his extraordinary talent to the world. Sharing a centenary and also a friendship, Lutoslowski’s fizzing Dance Preludes were premiered at Aldeburgh with Britten conducting. A new work by Dobrinka Tabakova draws together the concert’s themes.
