Renowned tenor, Mark Padmore joins Britten Sinfonia for the final concert in the 2011-12 At Lunch series. At the centre of this programme is a new work, The End by British composer, Jonathan Dove, co-commissioned by Britten Sinfonia and Wigmore Hall with support from the Tenner for a Tenor campaign. The End will form the filling for the sandwich at this lunchtime concert with the programme starting with Vaughan Williams’ 10 Blake Songs scored for tenor and oboe and ending with perhaps Peter Warlock’s best work, The Curlew.

“I am absolutely delighted that Jonathan Dove has agreed to write a new piece for Britten Sinfonia and me. The idea that it will be made possible by the public investing in it is thrilling. New music is the life blood of the classical repertoire – and this project promises something really special” Mark Padmore

The Tenner for a Tenor campaign enables you to help commission Jonathan Dove;s new work for only £10. Your name will be acknowledged in perpetuity in the score  of the new work.
