Duruflé Requiem

The Britten-Pears Chamber Choir believes that it will be the first to sing Benjamin Britten's Te Deum in C in Snape Maltings Concert Hall when it performs the work  with the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Ralph Woodward, on March 21, as there is no record of it having been sung previously at Snape.

Paul Kildea, internationally acclaimed Australian conductor and former head of music at Aldeburgh Festival, produced a new edition of the Te Deum in 2001. The work was originally composed by Britten when he was only 20 years old in 1934, in two versions: one  for choir and organ, the other for choir, harp and strings, the latter being the one to be performed in March. The treble solo will be sung by a child, selected by audition, from one of four Suffolk schools which will sing in the concert with the Britten-Pears Chamber Choir:  Saint Felix School, Worlingham Middle School, Sir Robert Hitcham's  Primary School and Bucklesham Primary School.

The evening's programme  will also include the Fauré Requiem and the Duruflé Requiem.  Soloists are Diana Moore, Mezzo Soprano, and Robin Moore, Baritone.

Tickets £18, £15 and £12 available from Aldeburgh Music Box Office 01728 687110
