New works by University of Cambridge student composers
The annual Britten Sinfonia/University of Cambridge Composers’ Workshop has become a firm fixture in the calendars of up-and-coming student composers. This year, Oliver Knussen and Ryan Wigglesworth – whose works for mixed ensemble will have been heard in the second Britten Sinfonia at Lunch concert – will select five pieces written by student composers for the same ensemble to be rehearsed and performed by Britten Sinfonia. The workshop is a fascinating opportunity for audiences as well as students to hear the advice and opinions of one of the UK’s foremost composers.
The workshop begins at 10.30am with the final concert performance at 3.30pm. Tickets are available for both the full day at £7.50 or for concert only at £5. Students at the University of Cambridge are free.
