Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis
Celebrated tenor James Gilchrist performs with the orchestra in a programme of some of the most beautiful English music for strings and voice. Gilchrist sings Purcell songs as realised by Tippett, whose baroque-inspired Little Music is also featured. Gilchrist joins horn player Stephen Bell to serenade audiences in Britten’s magical evocation of twilight and nightfall. Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis concludes this journey through English music.
“...he is now unsurpassed among lyric tenors in sweetness and technical security, and for his musical intelligence.” The Independent
