Bach's music is evident in many composers' musical language and in this programme you hear directly from him as well as his influence on Stravinsky. Piazzolla, founder of the nuevo tango, was influenced  by jazz and classical music, a fact shared with Egberto Gismonti and Joanna MacGregor who incorporate western classical music, jazz, rock and many other influences in their music today. Here Joanna reaches into the history of Latin American tango and English early music with Piazzolla's intensely melodic music and Dowland's melancholic songs. A concert full of latin and jazz rhythms and passionate melodies!

"In its vast scope and commanding authority, MacGregor's performance would be hard to match." The Independent
