The apex are launching a new series of classical music concerts: Unbuttoned takes place in a relaxed environment where there are no rules and you can enjoy a drink while listening to high quality music.

This will be the venue’s first ever presentation ‘in the round’. Showing off the versatility of the auditorium, the stage will be situated half-way down the room, with all seats facing the stage.

Britten Sinfonia will launch the series with a programme of tangos. The focus will be firmly on the music, and the orchestra will engage with the audience in an informal way by giving each piece a short introduction.

Opening with Stravinsky's Tango and including Shchedrin’s Spanish-flavoured In the style of Albeniz, the programme also features a new work, Nanobots, by rising Mexican star Enrico Chapela. Virtuoso bandoneon player Marcelo Nisinman will present some of his own stunning tango arrangements and also perform in the programme finale - Piazzolla's passionate and thrilling Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. For this piece, Piazzolla has taken the vigour and virtuosity of the Italian baroque and infused the work with jazz textures and Latin pulse.
