Julian Philips The Yellow Sofa

A new opera by Julian Philips, with a libretto by Edward Kemp for The Jerwood Chorus Development Scheme at Glyndebourne. Adapted from a novella by one of Portugal's best loved writers, Eça de Queiros, The Yellow Sofa tells the story of Godofredo Alves, a small businessman who comes home from work one day to find his wife in the arms of his best friend and business partner. He determines at once to seek revenge. A tale of sex, a city and the seductive power of furniture.

Please note that performances are at different times over the 4 days, and tickets are free, but with limited availablility, and only available to Festival ticket holders for performances on that day.
