Support Family Music Days

Family Music Day workshop

Britten Sinfonia is holding a Family Music Day in Cambridge on the 1 November at West Road Concert Hall. This is an exciting family event we have run for the past few years and due to the hugely positive response from both parents and children, we are looking to repeat the project in 2009. In order to keep the ticket price affordable for all families, and to continue to offer a wide range of activities as we did in 2008, we are seeking to raise £5000 in sponsorship for this event.

For more information please see below or alternatively to discuss your potential contribution to this wonderful project please call Sophie Dunn, Creative Learning Director, on 01223 300795.

Sponsorship opportunities:

Title sponsorship for £2500

Sponsor a workshop for £300

Sponsor the final concert for £1000

The event last year sold out and was attended by over 220 families. The response from the attendees was overwhelming, with many of the parents writing to us with comments such as:

"Brilliant, we can’t wait until next year. We particularly wanted to say how child friendly all the orchestra and workshop staff were, we really felt at ease all day. It was a really non-threatening environment which encouraged adults and children to join in. Thanks very much – we LOVED the concert!"

The 2009 Family Music Day will include more activities than ever before. Children and their families will be able to discover more about woodwind, brass and string instruments by listening and playing along with Britten Sinfonia musicians in our Explore workshops. We will be running our ever-popular Percussion, Instrument-making and Gamelan workshops and will introduce an exciting Singing workshop this year. There will also be activities such as face painting and badge-making and the day will culminate with the Grand Finale concert, in which everyone can play along with Britten Sinfonia, as well as listening to a programme of classical music chosen to appeal to this age group.
