Britten Sinfonia

BBC Radio 3 CD Review

Conductor Stephen Layton was the guest of Andrew McGregor on BBC Radio 3’s CD Review show on Saturday 5 December. They were discussing Britten Sinfonia and Polyphony’s recent collaborative recording of Messiah that has been released on the Hyperion label. It was an insightful discussion and included why Stephen chose to make the recording now after his strong history of performing Messiah, the differences between performing on modern and period instruments and of course was all interspersed by excerpts from the recording itself.

You can listen again to the programme until Saturday 12 December 2009 12.17pm. The discussion between Stephen and Andrew about Messiah starts 1hr 20mins into the show.
