Britten Sinfonia

New season is just around the corner…

Britten Sinfonia’s season is about to get underway! With concerts featuring world-famous artists such as James MacMillan, Mark Padmore and Joanna MacGregor alongside collaborations with These New Puritans  and the Brad Mehldau Trio it promises to be a varied and exciting season.

Britten Sinfonia’s 2010-11 Season starts with the première of James MacMillan’s Oboe Concerto written especially for Nicolas Daniel and Britten Sinfonia. In November there’s a captivating programme with Canadian soprano Barbara Hannigan performing works by Mozart, Rossini and Ligeti. Once again tenor Mark Padmore joins Britten Sinfonia for what promises to be a great project; English Song is made up of works by Tippett, Purcell, Finzi, John Woolrich and Walton. The season concludes with two of the world’s most acclaimed pianists. Firstly, in April, Angela Hewitt plays Bach’s Keyboard Concerto No. 5 and Mozart’s Jeunehomme Concerto alongside Bach’s Goldberg Variations arranged by Dmitry Sitkovetsky for strings. And finally in May, Joanna MacGregor joins Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen for a concert of their own arrangements, James MacMillan’s folk-inspired Piano Concerto No. 2 and Arvo Pärt’s Fratres.

In Cambridge and Norwich season subscriptions give a 20% discount when all concerts in the season are booked at the same time. You can choose your seats and enjoy your favourite view throughout the season, you can also purchase tickets for the At Lunch series at a discounted rate. In London you can start receiving a discount when you book just two concerts at the same time; 10% discount for 2 concerts, 15% discount for 3 or 4 concerts and 20% discount for all 5 concerts. Full details of all subscription and series discounts can be found here.

The evening concert season is complimented by Britten Sinfonia’s award winning At Lunch series in all three cities throughout the year. The 2010-11 series features new work by Peter Maxwell Davies, Julian Philips, Simon Holt and Enrico Chapela.
