Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!
We are thrilled to announce a new association with Brighton Dome and Festival as Resident Chamber Orchestra from the 2011-12 season. We will be giving performances of our award-winning lunchtime concerts and larger scale concerts alongside a programme of education work which, we hope, will enable a meaningful musical partnership with the city.
David Butcher, Britten Sinfonia’s Chief Executive comments:
“ It’s a great honour for the orchestra to be associated with such an artistically vibrant and pioneering city – values we hold very closely in our own artistic vision.. Alongside our residencies in Cambridge, Norwich and London, this new partnership will strengthen the orchestra’s ever deepening relationship across the East and South East of England and our aim to inspire people with fresh and exciting performances of great music”.
Our series of concerts will begin in Brighton on Saturday 12 November with the first of our At Lunch concertsM featuring a new work by Charlie Piper alongside Bruch’s Septet. In December we will present Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ in the Dome conducted by one of the UK’s most distinguished conductors Sir Mark Elder. He will conduct a stellar line-up of soloists and the orchestra’s new professional choir, Britten Sinfonia Voices.
Tickets are now on sale for our series of concert in Brighton and you can book tickets online at www.brightondome.org
