Britten Sinfonia

Pre-Concert Talks Available Online

In addition to our regular SinfoniaCast series, we are happy to announce that you will now be able to hear recordings of most of our pre-concert talks. To launch this, we have made available recordings of interviews from the Norwich dates of our Eight Seasons and Dialogues concerts.

Bob Shingleton, a well respected blogger, talks violins, seasons, and what it takes to get a Canadian audience to their feet with Tom. The Eight Seasons concert in Norwich brought the ever popular Four Seasons into a new light when interspersed with Piazzolla’s bold reflection on Vivaldi’s work. Argentinean composer, Piazzolla has created a Four Seasons of tango bars and late night jazz clubs that is passionate and thrilling. To hear the pre-concert talk from this programme click here.

In the Dialogues talk, we hear why the listener shouldn’t feel left out when it comes to Elliott Carter’s music, and Pierre-Laurent’s animated descriptions shed new light on an interesting repertoire. The Dialogues concerts earlier in November had a programme of works by Elliot Carter and Haydn and the masterful pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard demonstrated these two composers and their skill in creating contrapuntal lines of balance and clarity.
