Trustee recognised in Queen’s New Year Honours List
Britten Sinfonia’s long standing Trustee Charles Rawlinson was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2012 New Year’s Honours List. Congratulations to Charles who has received the award in recognition of his charitable services to music and young people.
David Butcher, Chief Executive of Britten Sinfonia said:
“All of us at Britten Sinfonia are all thrilled to hear about Charles’ MBE in the New Year Honours List. Charles played a seminal (and unsung) role in the formation of Britten Sinfonia nearly 20 years ago now, and his inspired and indefatigable support as a Board member and friend to the musicians and the management team has been invaluable.”
Charles, of Arkesden, near Saffron Walden, told the Cambridge News, “It’s very surprising to get this and it’s come out of the blue. It’s a great honour not just personally but more importantly it has something to say for the things I’ve been involved with and all the other people involved.”
