Tune in to Britten Sinfonia
Britten Sinfonia on Anglia tv News and BBC Radio 3 this week.
Britten Sinfonia musicians have been in Norwich today and will be in King's Lynn tomorrow, rehearsing and performing with over 700 children who have been learning instruments through the Wider Opportunites scheme. Workshop leader Tim Steiner has arranged music for (huge!) ensemble to accommodate all ability and experience levels, from beginners to Britten Sinfonia’s professional musicians. We will post photos and videos from these exciting events online shortly. Anglia TV came to visit the project today and will be reporting on their news bulletin this evening.
Monday 5 July saw Joanna MacGregor, Adriano Adewale and Britten Sinfonia performing as part of the City of London Festival. The sold out performance was recorded by BBC Radio 3 and will be broadcast for Performance on 3 at 7pm on BBC Radio 3 Thursday 8 July. You will be able to hear the programme for 7 days on BBC iPlayer.

Britten Sinfonia At Lunch October
London, Norwich, Cambridge and Birmingham
06 - 15 October 2010
Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet is an acknowledged masterpiece and at the heart of this opening concert in Britten Sinfonia’s award-winning lunchtime series. Arguable his best known chamber work, it’s a piece hugely admired by two composers also featured in this concert. The celebrated composer James MacMillan is represented by four miniatures each dedicated to important figures in his life, including Brother Walfrid, founder of Celtic football club, and fellow Scottish composers Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Sally Beamish. Maxwell Davies turns the tables with a brand new work in tribute to James MacMillan, co-commissioned by Britten Sinfonia and Wigmore Hall.
