Horn Sonata in F, Op. 17
Lifesize Gods (world premiere tour)
Britten Sinfonia’s At Lunch series kicks off with a programme of works for horn, violin and piano. Contrasting old and new, we hear intimate chamber pieces by Brahms and Beethoven juxtaposed with two new horn trios. Huw Watkins’ trio (2008) alternates driving rhythmic passages with slower contemplative music and we also hear the London premiere of a new Horn Trio, Lifesize Gods, written by Edward Nesbit, the winner of OPUS2015: Britten Sinfonia’s competition for unpublished composers.
