Britten Sinfonia showcases the works of British composer Laurence Osborn, as part of a series of 'portrait concerts' at Wigmore Hall.
Britten Sinfonia gives the London première of Laurence Osborn's Coin Op Automata (2019), a piece described as "a series of little mechanical tableaux" inspired by "all sorts of coin-operated machines". Solo violin piece Rendering Error (2019) brings to mind glitchy computer-generated images, while Automaton (2019) approaches the harpsichord as a kind of musical automaton, exploring the boundaries between mechanical and human sound.
