Join us in The Carnegie for a celebration day of our 5-month residency in Thetford. With many events to choose from, culminating in our Thetford Folksongs concert showcasing the work of local schoolchildren, this promises to be a fantastic day of music.

Pushchair Playlist

Soprano Elizabeth Watts and Polly Ives present a playful and relaxed morning of classical music with musicians from Britten Sinfonia. With bubbles, props and percussion, this will be an informal and inspiring session for you to enjoy with your children. The perfect introduction to classical music for little ones, and the chance to learn songs which families can sing at home.

Session 1: 10:30 – 11:15. This session is for 3 – 5s and their grown-ups.

Session 2: 12:00 – 12:45. This session is for Under 2s and their grown-ups.

Musical Memories

A fun and gentle hour of popular classics, folk songs and well-known tunes in a relaxed concert. We will be sharing new songs which have been created by members of the local community in workshops at Ancient House Museum and Cloverfield Community Church. There will be singalongs, introductions to the music from Britten Sinfonia musicians and presenter, Raphael Clarkson, and plenty of tea and cake!

14:00 – 15:15 (including interval).

Thetford Folksongs

Thetford Folksongs is the headline event in this celebration of our creative residency in Thetford. We will be sharing new folksongs, themed on Thetford’s history and written by students from Diamond Academy and Thetford Academy in sessions with Raphael Clarkson and Britten Sinfonia musicians. These will be performed by Britten Sinfonia in collaboration with the Bury Friendly Orchestra and Thetford Singers, and conducted by local conductor, Chris Parsons.

Concert 1: 16:30 – 17:30. Showcasing students from the Diamond Academy, members of Bury Friendly Orchestra and Thetford Singers.

Concert 2: 18:30 – 19:30. Showcasing students from Thetford Academy and members of Bury Friendly Orchestra.

Tickets

We want to make the events accessible to everyone, and tickets are therefore Pay What You Can, with options ranging from £0 - £10. Where you can afford to pay, we would appreciate you doing so.

Seating is unreserved.

All these events can be booked via Ticketsource.
