In the penultimate concert of the 2023 Aldeburgh Festival, join us for three contrasting piano concertos with Festival featured artist Pavel Kolesnikov and conductor Jonathan Bloxham.
In this programme Britten’s Young Apollo for piano, string quartet and string orchestra, written when he was just 26, is followed by Mozart’s Jeunehomme, which has a youthful energy to match Britten’s. Finally Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s Lamentate is an homage to Anish Kapoor and his sculpture Marsyas. Pärt’s work was originally commissioned by Tate Modern, and was premiered in the Turbine Hall where the monumental Marsyas was installed in 2003.
