BRITTEN SINFONIA TRUSTEE PROFESSOR JOHN LAST OBE HAS DIED

Britten Sinfonia has learned with great sadness of the death of Professor John Last OBE, one of its trustees, on Wednesday 9 August after a long illness. John’s contribution to the board since he joined in 2019 has been enormous. We shall greatly miss his sharp insights (and tremendous sense of humour!).
John was Vice-Chancellor of Norwich University of the Arts until his retirement in 2021 and worked in specialist arts higher education for over 25 years. He chaired a range of bodies in the creative sector including United Kingdom Arts and Design Institutions Association (ukadia) and the Group for Learning in Art and Design.
We extend heartfelt sympathy to John’s widow, Freddie, daughter, Kate, and all his family.
John’s funeral will be held at 2pm on Friday 25 August in Norwich Cathedral.
