Tom Coult is writing a new piece for Britten Sinfonia Academy which will be premiered in July 2018. During the 2017-18 season Tom is also mentoring Britten Sinfonia Academy members. From as little as £10 you can help suppport the creation of the new piece and get your name in the score.
Tom said about the new work he is proposing “What I’d like to write is a selection of orchestrations of some wonderful but little known Schumann piano pieces – a selection from both the 6 Etudes in Canonic Form Op. 56 and the 7 Klavierstücke in Fughettenform Op. 126. These would be very much coloured in using my own musical palette rather than Schumann’s, enabling a creative arrangement rather than a functional transcription”
Tom Coult is a composer born in London in 1988. His work has been championed by many of the UK’s major orchestras and ensembles, resulting in a series of large-scale pieces including Beautiful Caged Thing for soprano Claire Booth and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Sonnet Machine for the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and Spirit of the Staircase for the London Sinfonietta. In July his St John’s Dance opened the First Night of the BBC Proms, performed by Edward Gardner and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
