Harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani joins Britten Sinfonia in an ambitious performance of Bach at Brighton Festival
The 21st century’s leading champion of the harpsichord joins to perform Bach’s uplifting and era-defining keyboard concertos.
Bach’s boundless creativity is also on view in his second orchestral suite, with its virtuosic part for solo flute, and the fifth Brandenburg, which bursts the seams of the baroque concerto grosso genre with a staggeringly virtuosic harpsichord solo, laying the groundwork for the nineteenth-century piano concerto.
Britten Sinfonia performs with Mahan at Glyndebourne Opera House as part of Brighton Festival on 5 May, and in Norwich as part of Norfolk and Norwich Festival on 25 May.
