Britten Sinfonia is looking for a creative and organised individual to join the Learning & Participation department and deliver programmes with children and young people and composers across the East of England.

Our acclaimed Learning & Participation programme aims to activate the creative potential of communities across the East of England - through performances and participatory music-making and prioritising new and diverse repertoire. You will be joining the team at an important time for the organisation as we grow our work in state schools across the East of England, commissioning new music for children and young people, devising projects inspired by concert season programmes and collaborations with other genres and artforms. You will also play a key role in the delivery of Britten Sinfonia’s professional development programmes for early career artists, including our schemes for composers, Magnum Opus and Opus 1.

We hope this role will kickstart a number of projects we are hoping to deliver as we deepen our connection with communities across the East of England.

This role requires the successful candidate to complete a Disclosure and Barring Check, the receipt of satisfactory references and be eligible to work in the UK.

Volunteer stewards

We are looking for volunteer stewards to support us at our events in Cambridge, on an event-by-event basis. Stewards would support the Britten Sinfonia box office team by welcoming audience members at the door, directing them to their seats, and assisting in selling books and CDs. Stewards also join safety briefings and, in the unlikely event of an emergency (such as a fire), would help evacuate the audience.

This role is in a volunteer capacity, but stewards are welcome to sit in and watch concerts that they are assisting with. In addition for each concert at which you volunteer, we will offer you two free tickets to a concert in Cambridge or Saffron Walden where you will not be expected to steward.

Upcoming concerts needing stewards:

Family Concert: The Robot and The Bluebird | 20 July, West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge. See event details here.

Tim Garland's Lighthouse Trio and Britten Sinfonia | 20 November, West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge. See event details here.

Please email support@brittensinfonia.com if you would like to be added to our list of stewards.
