Interested in a career in arts management? Become a Britten Sinfonia Student.

Britten Sinfonia has a national and international reputation as one of the UK’s finest chamber orchestras, and its management team is based in Cambridge! You can find out more about the orchestra by browsing our website.

We are looking for several interested students to help us with our marketing work.  An outline of what being a Britten Sinfonia Student means:

  • 2 complimentary tickets to each of Britten Sinfonia own-promoted Cambridge events, and potentially concerts elsewhere as well (but we do not cover travel costs).
  • Joining Britten Sinfonia’s pool of volunteer stewards for our Cambridge events (you won’t have to steward at every event)
  • Up to a week of work experience (unpaid), gaining insights into arts marketing and orchestral management, working closely with the marketing team and having sessions with other teams as well
  • Paid work (at the rate of the Real Living Wage) for occasional work putting up posters around Cambridge for Britten Sinfonia’s concerts in Cambridge and Saffron Walden.

If you are interested in becoming a Britten Sinfonia Student for the 2026-27 academic year, contact Shoël Stadlen, Marketing and Communications Director at Britten Sinfonia: shoel.stadlen@brittensinfonia.com by 1 June.

Volunteer stewards

We are looking for volunteer stewards to support us at our events in Cambridge, on an event-by-event basis. Stewards support the Britten Sinfonia box office team by welcoming audience members at the door, directing them to their seats, and assisting in selling books and CDs. Stewards also join safety briefings and, in the unlikely event of an emergency (such as a fire), would help evacuate the audience.

This role is in a volunteer capacity, but stewards are welcome to sit in and watch concerts that they are assisting with. In addition for each concert at which you volunteer, we will offer you two free tickets to a concert in Cambridge or Saffron Walden where you will not be expected to steward.

Upcoming concerts needing stewards:

Tales from the Circus: Family Concert | 9 April 2026 | West Road, Cambridge

Please email support@brittensinfonia.com if you would like to be added to our list of stewards.
