Eight premieres in the beautiful surroundings of All Saints' Cambridge, followed by refreshments and a chance to meet the composers.
Join us for the culmination concert of our Opus 1 composer development scheme for 2024, which gives early-career composers the chance to work with and write new pieces for Britten Sinfonia chamber groups.
You will hear premieres of short new pieces by Matthew Elderton-Lewis, Sam Greening, Lucy Holmes, Chris Kirkham, Joe Mathawaphan, Vishak Ramaprasad, Harry Rees and Caroline Tyler. This year the composers will be writing for two trios of oboe, cello and marimba, and piccolo, trombone and harp.
Each year we select eight Opus 1 composers, who receive the opportunity to write for a group of Britten Sinfonia musicians and to take part in workshops and a recording day, receiving advice and feedback from both our musicians and the Opus 1 programme directors, Cheryl Frances Hoad and Raymond Yiu.
We are delighted to return to the ornate All Saints' Cambridge, also known as The Painted Church, for this concert.
