Britten Sinfonia performs Copland's Appalachian Spring at Thetford Academy, in the first professional orchestral concert to take place in the town.

Copland composed Appalachian Spring in 1944 for choreographer Martha Graham, capturing the spirit of a newly-wed couple set in the American frontier. Here, the score is performed alongside newly created music by Thetford Collective — an ensemble of Thetford Academy students developed in partnership with Britten Sinfonia. Choreography by Thetford Academy pupils, developed with choreographer Natalie Ayton, responds to the relationship between music and movement at the heart of the original ballet.
