SURROUND SOUND PLAYLIST
Britten Sinfonia’s flagship touring programme, Surround Sound Playlist is a unique musical and visual experience, performed in magnificent cathedral spaces.
Drawing ecstatic feedback from capacity audiences in our inaugural March 2025 tour – “magical”, “awesome”, “phenomenal”, “just the best thing ever” – Surround Sound Playlist meets head-on classical music’s widely perceived barriers to engagement, while also being equally attractive to those who already love it. The concert format delivers pay-what-you-can pricing, multiple stages, a freer seating environment and the widest range of orchestral, choral, solo and chamber repertoire. It is a taster menu, not a three course meal - a drivetime radio mix or eclectic playlist, but live and all around you.
The 2025 tour saw an incredible 36% of audiences coming to their first classical music concert, and this autumn we take Surround Sound Playlist to the cathedrals of Canterbury, Ely, Peterborough, Norwich and Lincoln.
We are so proud of this innovative, provenly successful format for widening classical music audiences, and we would love to bring it to London’s Westminster Cathedral – and beyond – in 2027.
