Author and illustrator James Mayhew’s stunning Once Upon A Tune was the Sunday Times and The Guardian Children’s Book of the Year 2021. In this concert it is brought to life by the musicians of Britten Sinfonia, as stories of celebrated pieces of music emerge before our eyes, while Mayhew’s captivating work is projected from his easel on to a big screen.
Battle trolls with Peer Gynt in In The Hall of the Mountain King; grapple with a magic broom in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice; sail the seven seas with Sinbad the Sailor in Scheherazade; see a prince disguised as a bee in The Flight of the Bumblebee; and become a fearless hero in William Tell.
