IZZY GIZMO RESOURCE HUB

We are delighted you are able to join us for performances of 'Izzy Gizmo' in October in partnership with Norfolk Music Hub.

Izzy Gizmo is a 45-minute show which is based on the best-selling book by Pip Jones which tells the story of Izzy, a young black girl who is an investor and uses her engineering skills to help an injured bird fly. The music is composed by Paul Rissmann and was originally commissioned by our friend at Music in the Round. Britten Sinfonia are working with Music in the Round and presenter, Polly Ives to bring Izzy Gizmo to children across the East of England.

Britten Sinfonia is one of the UK’s leading chamber ensembles and the only resident professional orchestra in the East of England. The orchestra works with schools, hospitals, and community organisations to deliver a range of programmes including interactive school concerts, informal performances for people living with dementia and professional development programmes for emerging composers. We aim to inspire communities, bringing people together and connecting them with professional and volunteer-led programmes in their area.

The interactive schools performance of Izzy Gizmo will be presented by Polly Ives and performed by a quintet of Britten Sinfonia musicians. There are animations by Vic Craven which are projected behind the ensemble and there are four participatory songs which we would like you to teach the children before the performance. 

The Izzy Gizmo Resource Pack can be found here - This pack introduces the participatory elements of the concert as well as providing some extra activities which you might like to explore in the classroom. We appreciate that there might be some teachers who feel less confident with music and it can be challenging to incorporate these activities into your own schemes of work but we hope the options we have provided offer the flexibility to enjoy exercising your own creativity. 

We also recognise that you may not have a significant amount of time available to prepare these songs with your class - Don't worry! Polly will cover the songs at the beginning of the concert as a reminder for everyone.
